It would probably be a lot cheaper to buy a long bit and drill it yourself, they're not that expensive.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

What diameter was the hole, how thick was the wall??
The construction of the wall can make a huge difference. There are many different bricks for example, with varying hardnesses. Some walls you can cut through easily, some are a nightmare.
You also must appreciate that the tradesman will have a right to allow for wear on the cutter as well - they are not cheap!
I've diamond cut a 4" hole through an 18" wall in minutes before, but also it's taken hours with smoke coming out of the drill!! - depends on wall construction.....;)Happiness, is a Kebab called Doner.....:heart2::heart2:0 -

Diameter? Whatever the standard vent for a hob is I suppose
Thickness ? 18" approx. Stone rubble.
Says it took 2 days. I was not on site.0 -
You would normally employ a specialist diamond driller to get through stone. If I hadn't got through 18" or at least made decent progress after an hour, I would give up.0

Specialist company who have the right equipment to get through stone, concrete etc.
Heating engineers tools are weedy in comparison and are really only designed to get through soft / less dense materials such as standard stocks.0
