Bathrooms - Do they need a Bath to sell well?

Thanks everyone! Luckily we have good water pressure so we can save money by not getting an electric shower, just need to get the actual shower head.... if only we could get one of those rain ones lol
Nothing stopping you getting a large shower head. Even if your shower is over the bath, that doesn't mean you have to have the shower head feeding off the bath taps (with redirection valve to choose whether water comes out of the bath taps or the shower). Your bath taps and shower valve can be completely separate.
Check out victoria plumb for some relatively inexpensive but decent stuff (for example you may like this giant square shower head for £39!). I got a shower head, valve, bath shower door (much better than a curtain ... ew!) and some other stuff and am very happy with it.0 -
I asked the same question on here a couple of years ago, and the answers seem to be the same. Personally, I prefer a shower, but ....
Oh, by the way, I'v never liked wet rooms, as there seems to be nowhere dry to stand and get dried afterwards, etc. You want at least a lip to keep the shower water in one end, a curtain, and oh heck...why not just put a shower cubicle in?No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
I would quite happily buy a house without a bath, as long as it had a decent big, good quality shower cubicle.
The first thing we did when we moved in was redo the bathroom, and replace the bath with a large shower and an extra basin.
We're not bothered about resale value, we're not planning on moving any time soon, and we didn't want to live with a bathroom that doesn't suit us on the offchance that someone in the future may prefer a bath. If they do, they can change it. We did!
I'm not keen on wet rooms at all though...0 -
I'm another one who would never buy a house without a bath. Or at least space to put one in. I tend to have showers most of the time but when I want a bath, I REALLY want a bath !0

In our last house when we replaced the bathroom, my husband wanted to just put in a shower. He took a bit of presuading but I eventualy managed to get him to put in an electric shower over a bath. It's not handy if a young family buys a house and there's no bath for the children especially.
We moved here 7 months ago and this house has a separate shower and bath. In that time the bath has been used once. When we come to replace the bathroom suite though, i'll still be putting in a bath. I prefer a shower but it's nice to know it's there if I want one!0 -
Personally i'd prefer the bathroom to have the option of a bath even though I mainly have showers.
I love those shower, baths with a circle at 1 end for the shower.Squish0 -

That seems to be the common view. If you want to have a shower, you can always go to the gym, but the same doesn't apply if you need a bath.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Quite agree with your comments i1189. We are about to take out our bath and install a bigger shower. We have had a walk in shower for about 20 years and the bath has only been used about a dozen times since. There are 4 adults in our house and a baby of 13 months who has surprisingly had a shower most days of his short life. He has occasionally had a bath in his baby bath.0
