If your not going to save much I would wait and see if the other energy suppliers drop prices before making any rash decisions. Please support my thanks button if I have been of any help

I was thinking that as I am with bg already there would be no hassle switching to websaver it would save me money, i wouldn't be interested in moving to another supplier at the moment as that would be rash but would defintly like to get a better deal if there is one available to me.0

This BG stuff is interesting.
The last Click 6 is good, but now the Websaver is the new one (No more clicks)...
Now for electricity the websaver is cheaper than click 6, but for gas it is dearer????
I suppose I could just switch one, but I may lose dual fuel discounts??

One option to try a couple of good comparison sites – input your yearly consumption figures and see how you are fixed.
Personally wouldn’t rush as it is more than likely other suppliers will follow BG.
BG change their prices 19th Feb.0 -
Doesn't Websaver have a cancellation charge ??0

6022tivo, Click 6 is cheaper than websaver for electricity as a single fuel in our region at the moment, so maybe it varies around the country. Worried jim should check the costs for both.
The sensitivity for websaver is the £30 exit fee, but also note it promises to track (I think 10%) below the standard BG tariff. You need to see how this compares after a price change, so, if there is going to be a change on 19th Feb, wait and see if it remains competitive (and what they do to click 6).0 -
Okay here's some clarification for you all.
Web Saver 1: available for both gas and electricity. £30 per fuel cancellation charge if cancelled due to change of tariff or move of supplier before SEPTEMBER 2009, however it is guaranteed to be at least 10% cheaper for you gas and/or electric until March 2010.
It is 'fixed' in the sense it is a contract, but it is a tracker. For instance, at the moment, it is 10% cheaper than the standard gas rates (but as you're on Click it won't be fully 10% cheaper than that) however come February 19 it will drop by another 10%. If you do a post code search at the british gas web saver online page it will bring up what your prices will be now, but not what they will be after February 19 gas decrease.
If the prices go up, yours would, but would still be guaranteed to be 10% cheaper, as with prices going down.
Cancellation fee is reasonable (compared to say Price Protection 2011 of £70 and £30 for gas and elec respectively) and the period in which it can be charged (until September 09) is very reasonable indeed.
You would still get all discounts you do currently: monthly direct debit and dual fuel. If you pay your bill when it arrives/pay quarterly/pay by quarterly direct debit, then you will begin to get a Prompt Payment discount come February 19 and afterwards of £15 per fuel per year if you pay within 14 days (very easy to do online with the online payments facility). You will get the prompt payment discount regardless of which tariff you are onYou cannot have prompt payment and monthly direct debit discounts together, however.

BG has gone from CE1 in 2007 to CE6 and now Web 1 in less than two years - that is seven tariffs of basically the same product – jiggery-pokery comes to mind.
If they had kept going we could have been on CE14 in no time at all. Obviously the PR people were beginning to see the light so therefore we now have Web 1.
Customers who take their eye off the ball get stung these days.0
