Diameter of pipes - plumbing question

Hi there
I bought a basin, tap and bottle trap waste package from Ebay. My plumber is busy fitting it and has discovered the pipe is not the standard size (32cm) so he cannot use the usual fittings to attach it to the plastic waste pipe. I measured the bottle trap waste pipe and it is 29cm (think that is 1 1/8in).
Any ideas as to why the pipe would be smaller than the standard 32cm and is there any hope of getting attachments to fit?
Any ideas much appreciated.
Many thanks

Could be foreign, I know France have a different thickness of pipes.
Surely your plumber should know whether there are adaptor to fit?I haven't got one!0 -
I do not know if it has been standardised now but when I use to do a bit of plumbing. Different makers had their own ideas on sizes. All marked 1.25 or 1.5 inch but you had problems if you tried to match different makes.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0

Our plumber (and people at the plumber's merchants say the standard adaptor is the 32cm and because the pipe on the trap is 29, it doesn't tighten down enough. He could just put loads of sealant in but he isn't confident it would stay watertight. So he is going to use a new trap with a 32cm diameter and I guess the other one will just land up in the bin.
Thanks for you help.

You mean mm not cm.
1 inch is ~25mm.
Otherwise that's a helluva big trap

One of the Mcalpine adaptors designed for chrome waste trap outlets might help, assuming it is a spigot of pipe and not a thread they need to connect to. The code is S28L-ISO and is actually specified as adaptor to European wastes.
