Building your own house sounds great, what a way to have EVERYTHING you want in a house right at the start. Good luck with that.

This has been in the pipeline for a few years now. Basically my dad owns land and he is going to give us a site to build our house on. It is going to be our forever family home and the best thing about it is that it will be in the country. I would like to move into it in 5 years or so and this gives us the chance to get some money together to keep the mortgage as low as possible and also lets us get our ideas together of what we would like the layout to be.

  • £50 from quidco arrived in my bank today. Once my new savings account is activated this will be transferred and thats the house fund up and running. I saved a few pounds on the dog food tonight so the house fund is already at £51.52. I also posted my amazon order today so that will be another £6.96 into the pot. £3 saved on parking added to emergency fund.

You're so good at sending all your little savings to the savings. I need to get into the habit of this. My problem I find is that my savings accounts take two working days to take from my current account so it's keeping track of them.
  • Only £3 added to emergency fund today.

    To do list for tonight

    1. Make and eat dinner
    2. Wrap xmas presents x6
    3. Make list of presents left to buy

    Better get started.

  • The debt is now just over £2500 as the car loan came out today. Will be under £2500 by the end of the month. Got most of the xmas presents bought today only need 2 more which I will get over the weekend. Also added £3 to the emergency fund. Went to OH's parents house today and got our xmas present £50 each which I wasn't expecting.

    Plans for weekend

    1. Buy remaining xmas presents
    2. Post presents to Scotland
    3. Wrap all xmas presents and write cards
    4. Go to dad's house for weekend and do invoices
    5. Get grocery shopping
    6. Clean car for MOT next week.

So a busy weekend in store for me.

  • I had a very busy weekend and the start of this week has been crazy at work. I can't wait until 23 December to get off for xmas. I have got 1 more present to buy for OH and then xmas shopping is done.

I have added some more small amounts to various savings pots and the totals are coming along nicely.

  • All xmas presents are now bought. Only have to get OH's birthday present. His birthday is 3 days after xmas. I seemed to miscalulate the budget this month and had a spare £5.29 so I added this and another £3 to the emergency fund. I am only a few pennies away from £500.

well done DC, you're doing so well, all those little amounts really add up.
  • Another £3 added to the emergency fund today taking the total over £500. I have got to take the car for its MOT tomorrow so hoping she passes. Then we are going shopping. I hope to get a new outfit for xmas. There is a christmas market in town with lots of different food so going to treat OH to some lunch.

OH just gave me another xmas present I couldn't wait so I opened it and it is the new watch I wanted. So he has gained some brownie points there lol.
