We're in a house with a credit meter so not a real comparison, but I reckon on £5 a day maximum, for a cold day with the heating on a lot, hot water for six and cooking by gas.

How many meter units are you using a day? Imperial or metric? That'll tell you more - I think it's possible for a meter to take debt from a previous tenant. Not saying that's happening to you.

Checking my readings on my Gas meter it is costing me £40 a week and that is for a 3 bedroom house with 2 people, so £20 is not too bad, but make sure you register yourself with the supplier to check you are not paying any previous occupiers debt.
