Home improvement - Any specific order

Hi,
I want to do a list of things on my new flat:
1. Put in a new fuse box and put in some additional sockets and lights
2. Check for damp
3. Check if my chimney breast can be opened up to have a chimney again
4. Change wardrobes and shelving in the bedroom
5. Change the flooring
6. Extend my kitchen worktop surface and cupboards
7. Get a flatscreen tv to hang on the wall.
8. Repaint and redecorate
I am not sure which order I must tackle this in. I have put them in the order that I think makes sense. Would you agree?
Any suggestions and tips please....

The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

A few ideas I learnt after recient work done at my home
Checking for damp and the extra sockets and lights could involve removal of plaster from the walls so dont go decorating before doing these.
depending on if you go for fitted wardrobes get the floring done before or after for free standing. you dont want to be moving things twice also decorate before the new floors it doesnt matter if anything gets spilt decorating will go alot quicker if they dont have to worry about messing up the floors.
same thing in the kitchen get the floor done after yo dont want to be paying for flooring that is covered by the new units.
the order I would go would be
check for damp
Fusebox ect
chimney
New kitchen bits
*new wardrobe if fitted
replaster and decorate buy the bracket fro the TV and fit it
flooring
*wardrobes if free standing
TV for the bracket you got earlier
Fitting the bracket early means any mess/extra holes made during the drilling can be repaired when the plasterer comes
doing things in specific order mainly just protects the parts you dont want to get messed up, decorating can be touched up if your just painting and moving thins as less as possible.0 -
Normally it's a case of messiest and most disruptive stuff first.
I'd probably do it:
1) Are you going to knock a big hole for a fireplace or not?
2) Check for damp (if you find it what measures will be necessary to eradicate it? will this involve stripping walls/floors etc?)
3) fusebox and sockets
4) flooring
5) Kitchen (as cupboards will sit on flooring)
6) sometimes you will need to decorate before fitting shelves and wardrobes (so you can fill/sand previous holes) depends on your preference.
7) telly and brackets to hold it.
This is assuming you have the cash to do it all in one go. Alternatively you can do a room at a time.

John does have a point about paying for flooring that will be covered by units, though I'd pay extra to avoid the hassle of cutting around the units and finishing off the edging.0
