Hi, I looked into doing this a couple of years ago but found that I was unable to get baskets at a decent price! Any ideas?? Also how much do you tend to sell yours for?
 Thanks to everybody in the crafting threads who inspired me to start my own business!!

I must be thick or something :o but don't understand why you said this Finefoot. Unless it's because people who shop at markets tend to expect lower prices and may not be prepared to pay what hampers are really worth:confused: . Please could you explain?[/quote]

    No, you are not!

I find that lots of people have a look, and not buy them, also, having them in the open, you get finger prints, dust on the items, and people tend to want to handle the baskets, then you have to wrap them all over again.
You also have the issue that it may be seen as a bargain item, I mostly make luxury ones, to order, and themed ones as well.

Sadly, that is a major cost to the finished product. There is a company I can recommend, pm me if you wish.;)

  • I've found this place that seems pretty reasonable, especially if you are ordering larger numbers.

Ooh, £6.99 for delivery under £250 so you would have to spend quite a lot to make it worth it!

  • I've heard of someone who makes new baby hampers, one of the things put in is a newspaper from the day it was born
  • right, i have decided im going to do this!! :rotfl:
theres an indoor market in my town where they have lots of good quality stalls selling organic things and antiques and flowers, cake making stall etc. so im just waiting for an email with the cost of renting a stall there. its all indoors over 3 levels all securely locked so fingers crossed its not too expensive!

i'll use flowerhour for the cellophane and bows and have a look in poundland and wilko for cheap baskets. also thanks to finefoot for telling me of some good basket retailers.

Raggydoll please keep us informed of how your doing!;)

Good luck dancingbutterfly. Let us know how you get on.
I love to give up work full time and make a real go of my baskets.
I went to the florist wholesalers on Saturday and was quite disapointed. Only things that were reasonable were pull bows. They never had much range of cellophane, so looks like its back to ebay. Plus their baskets were really expensive.
Might try another wholesaler this weekend
