I am moving house soon and have loads of old curtains. Do you know any MSE things I can do with them?

We use ours for dust sheets when painting/sanding/decorating etc. They're great, saves the carpet getting marked. Other than that, could you cut them up for rags? Ebay? Donate to charity?0

You could always Freecycle them? Could you dye them to fit with the new house, or take up etc? Would the new people want them?0

Make cushion covers, shopping bags, tablecloths etc.
If not charity shops or freecycle.
Hope you will be very happy in your new home.0 -
If you know of a local animal rehoming centre, ask them if they could use the curtains for bedding for the animals in residence.0

I would offer them on freecycle or take to a charity shop. If you're good with a needle though, there are loads of things you could make with them. I used an old pair of mine as temporary linings when I moved house once... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

I'd bag 'em and store them for a bit. You never know with curtains when you might wish you still had them.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

I agreeYou also never know if someone you know might need them. I recently moved into a house where the landlady took all of the curtains that she'd promised to leave. I ended up buying some, but thanks to my gran's hoarding habit I've got some lovely velvet curtains for the bay window in the bedroom. It's saved me a fortune and I'm so grateful, I can't believe how much warmer they've made the room.

I would keep them apart from all the uses already mentioned, they can be recycled as costumes for the school nativity play. One year I used most of my stock, and my mums, of old curtains and produced 30 costumes for the local junior school, Brocade is excellent for the Wise Men.
Vintage and vintage style curtains sell well on ebay - for people looking to create the Cath Kidston look without the price tag.
Net curtains are also great for keeping the birds off soft fruit bushes and strawberry beds in summer, can be sewn into drawstring bags to strain fruit for jam and wine making ..or use as washing bags to put delicate items or socks into for automatic washers...or donate to a dressing up box for a brilliant brides veil!0 -
If they are really knackered I would use them as dust sheets.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!
