Credit card frozen

Hello

I have a Natwest credit card limit of £1200 and am currently at £850 into it. I am currently unemployed and therefore my main account is in overdraft but not over the limit. Natwest have now decided to 'freeze' my card (though I still have to pay minimum payments) due to a change in my financial circumstances, so I cannot use it. Is this allowed? And can I do anything about it?

Check the Terms & conditions, but I suspect that unfortunately you'll find that they can do that - in fact, if they wanted they could probably close the account altogether and demand that you clear the outstanding balance immediately.

Wow, that's a bit scary. There is no way I would be able to pay off the outstanding balance anytime soon.

Generally they won't make you pay it all back now, if you keep paying your minimum payments, it will be fine.

Apologies - I didn't mean to scare you or imply that that's something that they would want to do to you in particular, just to point out that techically I think they would be entitled to do it.

Like the prevous poster says, if you carry on paying at least the minimum every month you should be fine.
