Letter from HSBC Solicitors

Hi all,

Sorry if I am repeating something that has already been addressed by someone else. I put in a claim for about £685 bank charges with HSBC and even added interest on top of that so it came to about £740.

I followed this site all through out the process.HSBC acknowledged the claim after 4 days of being served which gave them 28 days to put in a defence.

I have just received a letter from their solicitors asking me to provide them a fully itemised breakdown of the amount claimed so that they can investigate. My question is, if they are acting on behalf of HSBC, shouldnt they have the details of all the charges in question and what is there to investigate?

Secondly, I already took this to court, should I be dealing with their solicitors directly outside court? It is not like they are offering me the money or anything, am abit sceptical. Should I just wait for their 28 days to elapse and then request the court to rule in my favour???

Please help am confused.

Thanx to u all.

HSBCS solicitors are DG solicitors think they are n birmingham from what I remember. They are not very good, you need to co-operate as much as possible with them to help your claim. You can point out the info had been provided to the defendant.

You should co-operate with them out of court and try to bring it to an ammicable settlement if they want to as well. If you do get settlement out of court you must prepare your own consent order and send it to them for signing and to return to you, then sign and serve.

They will point out that there is a waiver for the claims sooner or later and request a stay from the court. Then you join the queue and wait forever...Edit: unless you are in financial hardship then you can apply to the court to object/remove the stay.

Did you file the claim at MCOL?
  • Thank you for taking time to reply. Can I pls ask, Does MCOL mean online court? If it does, then I did file online. It is them the DG Solicitors that wrote to me. I do not mind co-operating with them but it sounds like I will wait for ever. I am in extreme financial difficulty and that is why the court accepted my claim in the first place. If they are willing to settle out of court, then I have no objection to that at all.

In the meantime however, if I do send them (DG Solicitors) the details and it comes to the day (In a weeks time) when I am supposed to ask the court to rule in my favour and they have not gotten back to me in terms of deciding how they want to settle. Should I go on and put in a request to the court to rule in my favour as no defence wil have been filed?

That's why they want a Schedule of Charges, since you can't attach documents if you file on-line. Just send them a copy
  • Thank you, I will send one ASAP, infact tomorrow.

    Thanx again.
