i am due to start a degree course in march and i dont know the best way to fund it.i live in scotland and i claim income based jsa as i have been paid off. help i dont know where to start.

If you are on a low income or benefits you won't have to pay anything and will get a small grant for course expenses. Have a look on the finance section of the OU website and apply IMMEDIATELY as this needs to be done several weeks before you start your course. Good luck.0

I earn £15K a year and I got my course fees paid for for my course which I'm just about to start. Can I make one suggestion thought - make sure that the financial assistant forms you complete are for the OU in Scotland - mine weren't and I still can't work out whether it was my fault or their fault, but I had a very frantic couple of days last week faxing P45s, a letter from my employer, etc to the OU in Scotland - the girl was fantastic thought, I signed up for the course and then applied for the funding, I did it totally the wrong way round rather stupidly, but I can't recommend the OU highly enough for the quick and efficient way they dealt with things.
