Do C/c Companies Differ With Credit Score?

in Credit cards
a friend of mine has asked me for advice - her son has a bank account with Natwest & a credit card with another company - he's got himself into financial difficulty & she's trying to help him out so they applied for the Nawest C/C for the 0% BT - he was declined & it turns out that he thinks that his c/c has given his debt to a collection agency - Is there any c/c who are likely to accept him, whose criteria may not be as stringent as Natwest?
many thanks

He'll struggle to get a card now, the only one's he will be able to get are those that are given to people with poor credit history and have a very high APR. I could be wrong of course but looks likely, might be worth checking the credit report.2p off is still 2p off!0

Just worth noting that if his card debt has been passed on to a recovery agency, he won't be able to transfer the balance to a new card - in which case, getting another card would be a bad idea anyway.0

All credit card issuers differ with their credit score. They get the raw information on your past credit performance from one or more credit reference agencies and then do their own scoring based on that information. That is why buying a "Credit Score" from Experian or Equifax might give you a very rough indication of where you stand, but other than that they are a waste of time (IMHO).
It would be far better to get a copy of his credit history (i.e. not credit score) from one of the CRAs. He has a statutory right to get a copy for £2 which they can post to him. Alternatively you can use a 30-day free trial of their online service. However, you must cancel it before the 30 days otherwise they will charge him about £50 for the annual online service.
