Is house insurance bought online valid straight away?

i.e. from moment of making online purchase/payment? Or is it only valid once payment has been processed/transferred (I'd assume this would be instant if paying by credit/debit card?)??

It should start from whenever you ask the Insurer to issue cover (Providing it is not in the past).
If you are not sure just ring your Insurer or use their online website to check your details.0 -
There's normally a question asking when you want the cover to commence from.0
