I have stsrted using Squirrel meat and rabbit meat. Yes i know those poor little fluffy things, but it is very healthy and tasty, and has next to no fat on it and virtually free,:D if you dont mind catching it yourself, however you could get these at your local farmers markets.0

Tesco do extra lean mince but its 3 quid for a fairly small pack. Might be wrong, but from memory it think its below 5% fat. If i cant afford that i just buy the standard stuff, brown it then run hot water over it like other people have suggested. Do it in an empty sink and give it a good rinse afterwards though, otherwise it sets....disgusting!
That will be beef I bet - thats what I buy in beef <5%.
But much harder to get low fat lamb.0 -
Sainsburys do a lower fat lamb mince, cant remember the exact fat content but it was a lot lower than the Tesco one, and nicer, but it was more expensive.Pawpurrs x0

hi sunnygirl ,do you have a makro or costco near you ,i go there for my meat as they have instore butchers ,and although you need to buy bulk it does work out a lot cheaper than the supermarkets ,i usually buy a big bit of rump or sirloin when i am there it costs roughly £35 but out of that i had 36 steaks and a couple of pounds of diced steak .
this works out at less than £1 per piece of steak and these are very generous portions .
i alternate it every month between pork ,lamb ,steak and silverside joints .
they will also mince up lamb if you ask them just choose whichever cut of meat you would like and they will mince it for you free of charge0 -
Perhaps Lamb Meatballs won't taste that good without the fattier mince.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0
