someone using false address for ebay

Someone knocked at my parents house last week saying they had come to pick up a saw they had brought off of ebay, this is where it gets strange my dad wouldnt no how to switch a computer on yet alone set up a ebay account but my dad does own on of the saws the man was talking about my dad is a carpenter but defiantly wouldnt have had it on ebay he just put it down to a mix up and put it to the back of his mind,
My mum has just rung and said someone has turnt up at her house again wanting to pick up this saw so now they are both worrying what is going on,
So first thing has anyone got a contact number for ebay and secondly how would we be able to find out if someone has registered the address for ebay purposes would really apperciate your help and advice on this

  • Blimey thats strange. Ebay customer services no is 020 8080 2105. You could start there and see if there is a EBay account logged at your parents address.

Should anyone else arrive to collect anything i would ask then the EBay users id, item no and email or tel no of who they have been dealing with if possible. Ask them if they would mind if you took their details incase of any fraud or police case further down the line.

Other more experienced EBayers will be able to help better but that is what i would start with.
Good luck and let us know what happens!

phoned them wasnt much help wanted my parents email address as i kept trying to explain they havnt got a computer or email, they have took the address and will look into it and will contact the user that is using that address :wall: which i tried to explain is a bit like telling the person that we no what there up 2 so they can shut the account down before the police get onto them, wanted to get them to contact me or parents to confirm whether the address was registered to ebay and then we could contact police and they keep telling me to get my parents to email and they wouldnt be able to help me without an email address, i understand they cannot give out information but it is a bit silly to request my parents discuss this matter through email when i keep telling them they dont even own a computer and wouldnt even now how to email ( and no far to much hard work to try and show them lol)
  • Are you able to access EBay?? If so you could se what sawa are for sale in your area and then find the EBay username. That may help EBay. I would also contact the police too just incase any other fraudeant things occur.

If you dont have access if you pm me what sort of saws and rough idea of your area i can have a look for you if that helps.

    Good luck

i told my parents what they need to ask for if anyone else turns up at the house and they said they r going to go local police station and have a chat to see what they think and then at least it is noted down and nothing can come back on my parents if any thing fraudlent is going on
I have checked on ebay this afternoon for saws in the local area etc but nothing comes up, my dad is obviously worried about someone turning up while he is at work and getting the hump with my mum when she is there on here own thinking she is in on some scam
Thanks for your replies will let you no the outcome when we finally get to the bottom of it
