Partnership Tax Return Online.

I submitted my personal tax return online a few days ago, and the same for my husband. I noticed you can't do the partnership tax return using the same online form.
I finally got through to the government gateway support people (they've been really busy the last week or so, understandably), and they say that you have to use third party software to file a partnership tax return online.
I downloaded a free trial of some of the apps to check them out, and I can't believe they're charging money for the things. One is a spreadsheet which would submit using a macro, and the other looks like it edits a PDF then submits it....
Have I missed something - is there a way to just upload an SA800 form as a PDF myself, or some free software that will do the job?
Thanks in advance.

My understanding is that the partnership form had to be submitted on paper last year. You can enter your partnership earnings as part of your income on the online system so you can still complete that.0
