MBNA Rate For Life 5.9% (1% fee)

I applied for it a couple of months ago and ended up with a similar credit limit to my other cards. The promotional rate is only open for the first two months so don't apply for it until you need it. Now that the rate has run out I'll put the card away and not add to the balance as the standard interest rate isn't great.

Hi, does anyone know how strict MBNA are with regards to your credit file? Mine is reasonable - there are 2 late payments showing although one will drop off later this month and the other in January (both for a very small amount that was just a few days late). I learnt my lesson early this year and have been squeaky clean since. I also have an Egg card which just has a few pounds showing and will be settled later this month so reducing my available credit by £4500. Everything else shows as fine - mortgage/moby/bank account etc. At the moment my total credit is just more than half my yearly salary but once the Egg card is showed as settled that will go down to about 35%.0

Wonder if anyone can give me any confidence to apply for this card as dont know whether to go for this card or a loan from my bank (safe option) at 19.9% APR
Looking for £5k and not confident MBNA will offer me this.
I previously had a £5k loan from MBNA that I paid off 1 year early earlier this year, have no credit cards after closing my bank one around same time. No failed payments overdaft issues in last 6 months, no mortgage. Earn £17,500.
Previous loan and bank CC my only financial experiences in past, 23 yrs old, wondered if anyone with more experience reckons I might get what I want from MBNA?0
