Barclaycard Hilton - having a laugh!

Applied for a Hhonors Hiltn Card (underwritten by Barclaycard) on 26th Jan 09 for the bonuses it brings and got an instant acceptance.
Today in the post I have received a letter saying they've "reviewed my application and after making investigations I do not meet their lending criteira and have closed my account"!
Has anybody else ever had this, or similar experience? I'd appeal but somehow don't think it'd do any good.
(to further rub it in I've had an email from Hilton inviting me to apply for even more bonus points this very evening!).
