Claiming charges - claim been rejected?! HELP

ok so a while ago i posted saying i was claiming charges back from RBS, BOS and 2 catalogue accounts. (i can't find the original post, sorry)

Well over the past 3 weeks i have recived letters from them all saying they aren't going to give me the charges back, some because they believe the charges are fair, and some because apparently i don't fall under financial hardship?!
Im a full time student making £200 a month at my p/t job and have £2000+of debt?! How can i not be a hardship case?

What do i do next please?

Many students have student loan (£3K-£4k debt per year and overdraft sometimes upto £3k) I would say you are far away from hardship, who's paying your uni fees?
  • Hi Littlepinkstars,

The standards for hardship set out by the FSA are pretty steep. Have you had a look at Martin's section on hardship?

Some of the scenarios there are:
Items repeatedly being returned because of lack of funds, being in the process of applications for insolvency/bankruptcy or IVA, living off credit, recent loss of job etc.

If you consider that you do fit the hardship criteria and that the bank have given the wrong decision then you can go on to the FOS. They provide a free service.
