If you mean you want to use your webspace as a temporary storage area for these files to allow your family then to download them to their computers, then how about splitting the files into smaller chunks for FTP'ing them?
Something like this should do it:

If the files aren't actually going to be used on your website, there is no need to reconstitute them on there and your relatives can rejoin the parts when they have downloaded them.0 -
If you get a program like "Winrar" you can set the files to split at any size you like, say every 25Mb, you'll then be left with 8 files (*.r00 to *.r06 and a *rar file).
All the user needs to do is download all 8 files to a directory then extract the *.rar file, the program will automatically find the other 7 in the same folder and extract them all.Laters
