Hello. I have a very old laptop which is running XP with service pack 2 on it. It runs fairly slowly... . I was thinking of doing a clean install (whatever that may be), and putting on an nlited version of XP, which hopefully will be smaller and therefore might run better on the laptop... . Does anyone have any idea whether this is near to being a good idea...?
Also, do you think it's a good idea to slipstream XP service pack 3 onto my XP CD...? Can I do this even though I only have XP2 on my laptop at the moment...? Thanks!

You can slipstream SP3 into the nlited version but all that it will give you is all the patches that you can already get from windows update. I have had no problems with SP3 but its more of a case that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"
You have probably heard this a hundred times but old hardware works best with linux as it does not bog down the system. I have several T4x series laptops laying around in the house and most of them are running Ubuntu Linux 8.10. They are mainly used for browsing, email, etc.
On the laptops that we do need windows apps on, I have installed WINE which emulates pretty much most of Microsoft (and other) apps and its all good.
