This has been covered on a previous thread but I can't find it - if you have the link, pls advise.
On my Barclays online banking, a difference of £1 has appeared between the cleared balance and the actual balance. I've not spent £1, and it appeared a few days ago and it's still sitting there. Nothing appears in the transaction detail. What does the £1 represent?

I asked this about a month ago because it happened with my HSBC account.
It means nothing, it goes after a while lol. Others suggested that it maybe a test transaction to see if you have a balance but then never fully goes through.0 -
who would test to see if there's a balance and why...?If you will the end, you must will the means.0

Sometimes, if you have used your card for ID verification it can cause this. I know from personal experience that the Carphone Warehouse take £1 off your card then put it straight back to check your ID for new contracts. I think I also had this happen when I signed up for Experian.0

not used my card for anything like that.If you will the end, you must will the means.0

No, not signed up to any of these things recently. Have used Verified by Visa for an online transaction, but have been registered for a long time, and the full value of the transaction has gone through already.
Only thing I can think of is that I recently opened a First Direct current account and a savings account. The terms state that £1 is required to open the savings account, but the £1 has not left my old bank account or been credited to the new savings account. Perhaps it's something to do with that...?If you will the end, you must will the means.0
