MOT - Paperwork?

If I've failed my MOT and am taking it for retest, do I need the piece of paper they gave me that says why it failed?

(I think it's at my aunt's, but she's not answering the phone!)

I've always shown it. As for *needing* it I don't know.

You need it if you are having it retested for the fail items, if you are having a further full test done then you don't.

Damn. They don't keep a copy? Have to find it then. Back to searching.

    Thanks!

I don't know but as MOT records are all computerised now so I wouldn't be surprised if they can look up stuff like that.
In the past I've forgotten to take my current test cert when getting the MOT renewed and they still certified it to last a full year from the expiry of the current one rather than from the test date because it's all on the computer system.
    Isn't technology brilliant.?

When I had my test a few months back to do the retest the tester had to enter the reference from the fail sheet he had just printed.

The 13 month certificate is issued automatically as the system recognises that you have a valid certificate

They can do it without the failure sheet. It just makes it alot quicker and easier (and kinder) for the tester if you have it. Saves alot of time.
