Take pictures of online contracts!

I would strongly recommend anyone placing contracts or orders online to get a screen shooter!

I always take screenshots of anything important such as confirmation screens, special offers, anything that might be needed as evidence should anything go wrong.

For Windows users I can recommend an excellent piece of free software, which is probably the single-most useful program I ever downloaded: MWSnap.

You can either take a picture of a window, a selected area, or the whole desktop. The latter is useful because this way you can include date and time in the picture if hovering over the date with the mouse when shooting.

... or if you have an Apple Mac, press:

    Options+Shift+4 for selected area
    Options+Shift+3 for whole desktop

No need for additional software with Macs

Ah, beaten to it ... well done albertross.

Personally, I use a PDF Writer for this type of thing - then it can be made searchable.

Just hit the Print/Screen/SysRq key on your keyboard
and paste into Paint or whatever and also..

Hold down Alt then Print/Screen/SysRq key on your keyboard for just that active window.
  • Hmm, i know that!!

But they way Mr-J put it, it makes it sound like he can search text in a screenshot :S

    Thanks anyway..

He uses a PDF creator to print, for instance, a web page. The text content will then be searcheable. (This is done via the print dialog.)

However, not every web page is printable.

As Dagobert says for me, I was referring to using a PDF Writer to produce a searchable PDF.

I have a receipts and invoices folder in which I place the PDFs and can search the entire content of the folder via the PDF Reader.

Whilst some webpages are not printable, stuff such as receipts, invoices and T&Cs normally are, so no problems there.
