Canon Camcorder MVX 200 - Zooming.

On this camera it has developed a fault and it 'zooms in' from wide-angle(W) to telephoto(T) without the zoom lever being touched.
The only way to prevent this is physically hold the lever to W.
Today it went the other way i.e. Zoomed out.
The zoom indicator on the display is permanantly displayed.
The remote is switched off.
Would anyone have any ideas please?
