misselvis was lost but has now seen the light

Have been using the MSE website for two years but today for some reason have decided to post something. Am not sure whether I am ready to post my SOA yet but have done it in private and have had my lightbulb moment realising that I cannot continue with the pay and spend mentality I had without making severe inroads into my debt. Have been so immensely inspired by the journeys taken by everyone and feel part of this community that is so welcoming. Appreciate I need to do a life overhaul in order to follow my dreams. I think turning 30 last year was my wake up call and last week decided I wanted to go back to uni to re train as a social worker. However after some number crunching and soul searching think I will wait to apply in 2010 and concentrate on becoming DFW for 2009 and adding to my saving cushion. Just want to pass on my thanks

student loan £1800, HSBC card £2000, Vanquis card £650, Halifax Card £1550
Additions Direct £1300 bank loan £140000

    hey folks

must be time of the month but completed one good thing towards my debt free existence paid off a lump sum of my catalogue and reduced the credit limit (something I aim to do every month), paid off and closed an additional mobile phone then ended up going food shopping without a list and spent £13.36 without much to show for it. Iceland did have some good offers so have decided not to go out with any money in my pocket for the next week.

hope everyone has a wonderful money saving weekend;)

    Good afternoon folks

walked into work today took way longer than usual as I was virtually tip toeing to work. Slight naughty indulgence passed by the shops and bought my some food for my lunch and dinner tonight as I am on a sleep in shift. congratulated myself on that as my usual behaviour would be to rely on takeways and ended up spending £4.00 on 3 meals rather than the usual £10.

weekend spent very little just took out the new bf to lunch he usually pays so felt I should make a gesture we went to a nice deli near kentish town for an organic breakfast. should've looked on the mse website for a meal deal but was quite impressed with the meal.

done two extra shifts over the weekend as well as meeting up with the family and the bf so feel I should pat myself on the back. I use my 2nd job money for my spending and to throw at my debt in addition to my recently increased debt repayments. have put myself on a fairly tight budget but my agency have been really good with giving me shifts and I do like the work so as long as i have the energy and manage to see everyone the work/ life balance will be tilted for the foreseeable.

mum's birthday is on friday have got tickets from the sound of music on lastminute.com for £25 so that's a bargain. found a card in the £ shop which is really nice. appreciate i should have made one myself but this was still a bargain as i have seen similar ones going for £2.50. its really quiet at work so am planning to read some other threads.
