Self employed husband - need Income protection and life insurance

Hello,

Need some advice please.

My husband is currently self employed and I would like to get some sort of insurance.

Please bear with me as I am a very risk averse person so want to cover as many bases as possible!!!

I would like to get income protection, life assurance and some sort of accident insurance for him. If there is any other type of insurance you think will be of benefit, please shout!

I already have life assurance through my company so I'm sorted.

Can anyone advise me of where to start or of any good companies?

We have no mortgage or kids but will hopefully be getting a mortgage next year. I know that you can get decreasing life assurance to pay off a mortgage but I also want a separate assurance policy in addition to this. Is that allowed? Can I have two life assurance policies?

you can have two policies, in fact that is what alot of people do. Other one you might want is Criticial insurance cover. Which can add to the life assurance. Maybe even add the accident cover to it as well. There are sites you can goto where you get cashback either as a lump sum or as reduce premiums. Have the check on the post office for income protection. You might need to speak to a broker about income protection through cause as self - employ quite alot have huge restrictions on them, which make them near worthless.

he can get income protection for accident or sickness but not unemployment, life cover not a problem and it probably isnt advisable to use your "work" cover for protection especially in the current climate

I have to agree in this case. Your post is far too specific for generic comments and there could be a whole range of options suitable. Some of which you havent thought of by the looks of it suggesting you are not aware of them.
