connecting laptop to TV using S video but no sound

I am using one of these 7 PIN S-VIDEO to 3 RCA TV Cable .

Connecting s video on laptop and the 3 rca on TV (CRT)

I get a picture but no sound, it still comes out of laptop? Any ideas.

An s-video cable doesn't support sound. I must say it is bizarre that someone would make a cable like that. It actually says that it doesn't support sound if you read the questions section at the bottom of the auction.

You need a 3.5mm to dual rca cable for sound. For the best quality picture you should use a 7-pin s-video to 4-pin s-video cable, rather than the composite adaptor cable you have.

I think it's actually an S-video to component video cable (which transmits the video on three wires). However the cable happens to work when your s-video connector is putting out composite video as it uses one of the same pins in this mode.

In this case the other two connectors will do nothing. As said above, s-video doesn't do audio.

I think it is a case that the ebay listing description is not brilliant.

Ah yes that does make sense, having the cables coloured red, white and yellow confused me a little there.
