Lloyds TSB to First Direct - Faster Payments?

OK, here's a stupid question.

I can do "faster payments" from my First Direct account through to my Lloyds TSB account, but the other way it takes a couple of days.

The https://www.canipayfaster.co.uk website says I should be able to send them instantly both ways, but Lloyds is adamant that I can't...

...any ideas?

(I'm a bit worried because I sent £1550 from my Lloyds to my FD yesterday morning... it's gone from Lloyds but hasn't shown up at the other end yet!!!)

How were you sending them from Lloyds? Telephone or internet? Many people on here have reported not being able to send them by the internet, although I have had one that was.

Check your FD sort code on the APACS sort code checker, to make sure that your FD account is definitely accepting incoming FPs (it should be).

Last week i successfully transferred a large transfer from my HSBC a/c to Lloyds bank a/c instantly...using FPI. I am not sure about sending money from Lloyds to another bank a/c elsewhere in UK though. Anyone know?

    Don't rely on Lloyds :(

  • You have to call phone banking to get an FP sent with Lloyds IIRC. Their Faster Payments implementation is a clusterf*ck.

How is HSBC for FPS SS? Fully implemented and working as advertised?

VERY tempted to move my business a/c from A&L to HSBC.

    Cheers, Des.
  • My rent payments to Halifax (£450pm) have gone through as FPS from both HSBC and First Direct. Standing orders are due to be implemented soon IIRC, don't know for sure.

Yeah, I attempted a Lloyds => First Direct FP

I went into a Lloyds branch the other day ('cos I was near one anyway) to ask them what the daily limit was on FP ('cos I'd seen some threads about the daily limits jumping about)

"Faster Payments?" they said, "Never heard of it."
so I tell them what it is

    "I'll go and ask someone"

    Came back later with
"You do it on internet banking and the limit is £10,000"

So I assume nobody in the branch knows what is going on
and today try to initiate a FP using Telephone Banking

They take all the details and then say
"sometimes it can take a few days, I'd give it 3-4 working days"

    "I don't want a BACS transfer" I say,

"I know, but this is a new system and sometimes it just takes that long"

So I decide to do the transfer in cash
check on HSBC web site where the nearest HSBC branch is
and when I get there -the HSBC branch has been derelict for god knows how long

    Grrrr!

The sortcode checker only shows which accounts will receive FPs - it doesn't mean that the account will send them, and even those accounts that do send FPs will send some payments by BACS
