As for the programme's implications for the UK's Aaa government bond rating, the rating agency says it does not view the UK as a clear outlier in the Aaa category even with the programme's additional cost
  • People who are predicting the bankruptcy of the UK gummint' are predicting something that is extremely unlikely to happen, even now. You have to remember that doom mongers have predicted twelve of the last zero complete civilisational breakdowns.

Predicting bankruptcy is putting it rather strong, as the IMF would come in to assist, as they have in the past. However those of you who are old enough will surely remember the state we were in during Heath's government. I was working then so the inflation actually helped me. As I was working in computers I was exempt the short working week, we got pay rises every three months to cope with inflation and my mortgage swiftly went from a difficult to manage sum to a pittance. It was great for me then, however how it affected those on fixed incomes I shudder to think.
