My OH bought me a Dolce Gusto for Christmas, I loved it!! I think the OP will knows his wife well enough!!
I would recommend the DG to anyone, easy to use and clean (although mine doesn't dance, thinking of taking it back......lol  ) I don't use it every day, but I do use it a lot at wknds.
I suppose it depends on how much you want to spend and how often you will use it.Married the absolute love of my life on Sunday May 6th and I couldnt be happier!!!0 -
My OH brought me a Dolce Gusto as a pressie, and i love it, make sure that you register online as you get 200 points, and as every box of capsules has a code inside that gives you points which you can use to take of the price of capsules and accessories, the dolce gusto website also just before christmas emailed me every other day with the code for more points, i ended up with 4 boxes of Choc and a free box of mocha for just the price of postage which i think was £2.25. and then again each box has the code on ..... I also love the Tassimo, find it easy to use and clean. You don't have to buy special cups, unless you want to, it is compact and looks good. Personally I think it is worth every penny when you take into account what the cost of a coffee is in the shops.
My husband likes the Suchard chocolate and I like the Latte, but I have had problems getting the Latte since the begining of the year as I think they sold so many of the machines over Christmas and the Latte was a popular choice. They are filtering back into stock now though.0 -
Why would anyone want a 'Pod' machine for "Push button coffee"?.....0

and I think now down to about £25 at Argos
I second this - I have owned one for about 3 years and love it. It is cheaper to run than other sorts.
I think it would make a lovely present especially if combined with a milk frother aerolatte thing, chocolates, marshmallows, cocoa cinnamon shaker, etc and a very special mug.0 -
I'm another big fan of the dolce gusto! Got it before Xmas and have used it every day! Instead of going or a coffee with the girls at the weekend they come to mine - great money saver as a box of pods is approx. one coffee in certain coffee shops!August: £149/£150
Sept: £200

We've got a gaggia evolution and I love it - don't like the pod machines (but don't ask me why - totally irrational)0

I had a Tassimo for a while, but I just couldn't stop thinking about the
environmental aspect, where I was throwing out all these individual plastic pods into the bin.
Seemed such a waste.
Also the coffee choice is very limited & very expensive.I started off with nothing and I've still got most of it left.0
