Parking ticket blew away

Hi,

My wife thinks that she might have been given a parking ticket (PCN I assume as it was a public road) in Northampton. However, she didn't notice it when she drove off, and before she was able to collect it it had flown off her screen (obviously not stuck on very well)

What will happen next, obviously we don't particularly want to phone the council and tell them that we want our parking ticket!

    Hi,

Why? That's the best possible thing to do otherwise you risk losing the chance to pay at a discounted rate.

Just ring them and they should be able to tell if there is one from your VRM.
If so, ask for a copy.

When you get it scan and post here and give details of circumstances, etc.

  • Do as Neil advises. Not doing it will only increase the fee and lose you the opportunity to appeal informally.
  • A similar thing happened to a parking ticket i got in september last year. it was pouring down and when i took ticket off the car it was soaked and fell apart. I didn't take any further action but got a letter yesterday requesting that i pay the original £30 fee within the next month or the fine will increase

    Who is the ticket from?
  • I'd be inclined to whinge at them since I received a parking fine for not displaying my residents parking permit properly - it came in one of those sticky things that lost it's stick after about a week, then it fell off and I hadn't noticed.

If I can be fined for not displaying my permit properly then they should get stick for not displaying their fine properly. Of course whining along those lines would get you nowhere but I'm just bitter and wanted to vent!

The police, i have paid it as i did commit the offence stated (parked in a time restricted street longer than maximum time) as i was at work round the corner and just forgot to move my car!
