Leaving aside the fact you'll be using it illegally (only Vista Ultimate and Business give you the rights to downgrade to XP), and as you don't have an XP activation key so it may come preactivated or it may not activate at all the answer is still a maybe.
Some vendors write restore CD's so they will only restore to their brand of laptop, some write them so they will only restore to a certain model in their range, others supply generic XP cd's. Its not constant through one maker, they may use any or all of the above locks depending what channel the machine was intended to be sold in (both country and if it was a home or business unit).
Before you even start it may be worth checking Fujitsu's site so see if there are drivers for XP available before you start the process. XP will only see 3 to 3.5 GB of your memory, and if the celery processor is slow with Vista it's not going to be hugely faster with XP.
You may also find a restore CD for the wrong type of laptop will put incorrect drivers in that cause the machine to repeatedly reboot on start up and you'll be no further forward.0 -
Er nope. Mostly hardware and software specific to each model, includes things like branding and the use of all drivers and help topics etc. machine specific. What's wrong with Vista? It is coming or rather Windows 7 is, later this year.0

Fujitsu Siemens supply 2 discs, One is Vista or XP, the only thing they have touched on these installs is they insert the key, they are not branded or anything. The other disc is a driver DVD.
Its not a heavily branded DVD like Acer etc supply, its basically a regular Windows CD with key enteredThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
My son got a fujitsu seimens laptop ( 1.6 dual core with 2 gig ram) with vista home premuim last summer. After a couple of months he was so fustrated with the laptops inability to do anything quickly & the hard drive wirring continuously, then when it blue screened after an update & it would only run in safe mode we put xp pro on it. (my old laptop with a 1.4 single core and 1 gig ram running xp was faster in all aspects to the vista laptop)
The difference was immediately apparent. It turned into a useable computer.
I suggested he bought a copy of xp , since £60 is nothing really for an os (unless you have linux ) , but he doesn't really care about the legal issues & any sympathy with microsoft went out the window as the os that came with it was not fit for purpose. The drivers were all available for xp and the laptop has been fine ever since.
I ma not one who really hates vista just for the sake of it, and find it does have good features. It is not fit for low spec pc's or laptops and only really comes into its own on a high spec media come gaming machine. Other than that I have not found any added value to having vista over xp & it is certainly no good in a business environmentNudge nudge, Wink wink, Say No More!0 -

A fujitsu seimens xp disk is unlikely to work, and it certainly won't work with the vista key on your microsoft vista label.
I put the blue screen down to overworked hard drive that had created too many errors.
If you want xp then buy it before it becomes unavailable, otherwise you will have to use a pirate copy that may be ok for some but if you want the security of an updated system then buy it. Otherwise use linux, try a live cd from ubuntu.com You will likely be surprised at how good it is.
I Put ubuntu on the fujitsu seimens laptop for a try. it did't need any other downloads or drivers installed - it just worked, can't get better than that.Nudge nudge, Wink wink, Say No More!0 -

Ha ha, We've been down that route and posted about it on here, I'd be surprised if it actually worked! The live CD and install wont get me past the Ubuntu screen with the little bar that moves, Its stops at about 30% and thats it game over, Tried Kubuntu and same problem, Tried Mint and same problem. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
