Maybe I should take a trip down there. It all seems so crazy. I have a mortgage of only £25k and my CCs are all paid off each month....it seems crazy!0

Just FYI.
I have a default on my credit file, I also have a CIFAS flag on my file. (The default is from unauthorised transactions that I dispute and that the bank wouldn't sort out, and the CIFAS flag is from someone who did something naughty at a previous address of mine, years after I lived there)
I had no problem opening up a Ltd company account with A&L which is fee free too.
I'm not recommending A&L as there are many stories of problems from other people, but it is an option for you.

Cheers Des,
I'll check that out...0 -
Hopefully the offending entry will soon be removed. It certainly shows the importance of contacting all the organisations you have a financial relationship with and letting them know when you are moving home. A copy of your credit report is quite useful for this as it lists accounts in your name that are still open. You can also register your previous address with the Mailing Preference Service to cut out marketing offers going to your old address after you've moved out, particularly important once your mail redirection has expired.
Lenders certainly should not refuse credit applications just because CIFAS information appears on the credit check. That's against the rules of CIFAS, which is a closed usergroup, meaning members breaking the rules could be thrown out. Consider the bad PR!
Might be worth asking Abbey to look at your application again, giving you the chance to explain what has happened. Of course, you could always try somewhere else, but probably best to wait for this to be resolved first.“Official Company Representative
