Blue screen of death on Dell Laptop..

Hello Clever people, I wondered if any of you could help me.
I've got a Dell inspiron 1300, and it has just started (last week or so) to crash, especially when burning (particularly finishing burning) dvds and sometimes cds.
I installed a divx bundle a month or so ago, and when I googled the error codes it seemed to be the culprit.
I uninstalled that, no improvement.
I then uninstalled and reinstalled (from the original dell cds) the mySonic DVDle software, and thought that had fixed it, but today it's crashed twice.
I have a Dell diagnostic cd here, and also another pc with net access.
What should I do first?
I've got AVG, zonealarm and spybotscan, and have run ccleaner.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for replying.
It does make some fan noises, and gets warm a bit.
Do I not need spybot if I have AVG then?
(I thought spyware would not neccesarily be picked up by a virus scanner)0 -
Any help at all would be much appreciated.

Error code 1000007e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 806d2753, parameter3 f78f9c28, parameter4 f78f9924.0 -
Not that I recall, The error log only showed the codes above.
