Does this happen with ~all~ web sites, or just ones that use SSL (i.e. with an address that starts with https:// instead of http://)?

If the latter and the error relates to an expired certificate, it may just be that you don't have up-to-date root certificates installed. That's quite easy to fix, but IIRC how you do so depends on which browser you're using.

this is happening with all sites from asda ,and argos to mse and freecycle so it must be the ones with http://

They are... irrelevant to your problem! SSL works by the web site presenting a digital certificate to your browser, which your browser checks to see if the certificate was issued by someone it trusts. It does that by checking it against a list of root certificates. If it finds a match then it knows that it can trust the certificate, and therefore the web site.

Shame that none of that helps with your problem, though...
