Is this at all possible, we currently have an electric shower, but we want something thing a bit more powerful, as it doesnt have a lot of power or anything, we would love to have a power shower but we are not sure that this is possible, to do with a combi boiler.

or can anyone suggest anything to give us a lot of power from our shower.

Any help greatly recieved

In our old house we just had a thermostatic mixer shower (we had a combi boiler). Pressure was excellent. If you have lots of pressure in your bathroom (just turn on the hot tap in the bath / sink and see how quickly it comes out), I think you should be OK.

Not sure whether you can have a power shower or not, but I would think a mixer shower would be cheaper so I would look into that option first. The disadvantage is that if your boiler breaks down you can't have a hot shower until it is fixed.
  • No you can not have a power shower on a combi boiler due to needing tanks in your attic and a cylinder which will be an expensive changeover.
you can do this test though. run your cold water tap in your bathroom if the pressure is very good then you can have a thermostatic mixer shower installed, thermostatic means the water heat is balanced at a certain temp. if it is weak then a low pressure mixer shower 1 bar or around that pressure should be used but remember a mixer shower means you will be jumping around in the shower if somebody turns the water on in the kitchen or the washer is on due to pressure flow. so thermostatic is better than a mixer. Thermostatic mixer £90-£300 City Plumbing. mixer is cheaper by about 40%

Good afternoon: No, you can't have a 'power shower' with a combi. See more here

  • Pinkylink,

I was thinking about a thermostatic mixer shower after reading a post on here as I do not want to have the shower go cold on me. Stupid question, but how would I know what low pressure is? I would know that it is high pressure , but may get medium mixed up with low or I guess I could ask my plumber:confused:
