GameCube - best deals?

I'm looking at buying a Game Cube. I'm an Ebayoholic, so that's looking like my best bet, but wondered if anyone knows of any good high street deals at the moment? Would be nice to buy it new :) (Did a forum search, all game cube posts seemed to be pretty old and Argos/JohnLewis/Currys etc. don't seem to still have those offers)

Particularly looking for Resident Evil 4, or maybe a decent value game that I could Ebay off.

Cheers :)

Game have them second hand at £39.
Ironically games are same size as psp discs.

Game Cube games come on DVD/CD style media. You might be thinking of the game cube memory cards. All the Argos stores within a 100 mile radius of me are sold out of the controllers.. but I think I saw a post here that said they're really cheaply made.

There's a ton of second hand ones on Ebay ~£30, was just wondering if anyone knows any specific high-street deals that are def. still on. (I def. want a Game Cube)

    Cheers

    Are you insane?!?! :D

Nintendo make far better games than those available for the PS2/XBOX.

Basically Anything with Mario, Zelda or Resident you can't go wrong!

Seriously though, it depends what type of games you want - if you only want FPS and racing games (& maybe the odd football game) than get an XBOX/PS2, but Nintendo games (particually all the mario and zelda ones) are feats of true gameplay genius!

(Sorry, I'm talking pants, had never seen a GC game and a Google shows they do look similar to PSP discs. )

Rattla.. shhh... you might make me go out and do something stupid, like buy something from a large chain retail store ;)

I keep reading about Resident Evil 4 and haven't been into games in ages.. I'm sure it's going to blow me away.. I'm trying to resist the urge to impulse buy.. ;)

nope not insane.I didnt mean to imply nintendo dont make good games.i purchased console for my sons as they loved mario and pokemon.
My gripe is with stores such as GAME.
Ive an xbox,ps2 and xbox and the gamecube display has shrinked to one unit whilst the other consoles have 4-5 times the amount of display space.
Ive also sadly noticed when i look for second hand titles they always seem to be cheaper on xbox and not all ps2 and xbox titles go onto gamecube format.
Out of the 3 consoles I do think its the best for non teen kids its a shame they arent pushing their games sales.
I wish they would continue making games for N64.I like the cartridges only console I will allow my sons in their room as its robust.

Toys r us normally have plenty of cheap deals on the Gamecube console for around £49 and £59 including games, accessories etc.

They definitely do the console with Donkey Konga game and bongos for £49.99 and normally have similar offers on the Mario Kart and Resident Evil 4 bundles.
  • there was a resi evil 4 special edition cube knocking around at one time- maybe that is in with one of the re4 bundles???
things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back then ;)
BH is my best mate too, its ok :)

I trust BH even if he's from Manchester.. ;)

  • Ebay may well be your best bet at the moment, Game sell preowned for £42.97 and the standard £79.99 for a new one. However since the cheap Argos and curries systems came out at ebay seems to have got a little flooded by people splitting the bundles and making a profit. I nearly bought a cube with out extras or games for about £40 in November but was lucky enough to get a bundle from Argos a few weeks later.

Interestingly, after not stocking the cube for a while Argos are now selling the Mario Smash Football - might be worth waiting a while and seeing if they do another clearence offer soon. Basically, the Cube is on its way out with retailers so it might be worth sitting tight for a month or two and just see what happens. A lot of people also belive that when the latest Legend of Zelda is released (hopefully around March)there will be a final push to sell off the Gamecube to make room for the Revolution - again there might be some good deals to be had then.

I got my son a gamecube at Curry's before Xmas. They were selling them for £29.99 new. Not sure if they're still doing that offer. Even the lady on the till couldn't believe how cheap it was.
