I rangup to get a balance-Am I missing something here?

Had drawn £400 cash out of an atm machine.
Rang up later that day to get a balance by phone.
me" I have drawn £400 out of a cash machine today.Is it showing on the account/"
Adviser "yes.Your balance is £800".
Me thank you.

It later transpired the £400 had not come off the balance she had given me.

When I later enquired why i was not told it was pending,i was met with a lot of avoidance,and answers to questions i wasn't asking.

It's not brain surgery is it?
I ask for a balance-they give me a balance.If the amount i ask about is pending-they tell me-because...I AM ASKING FOR A BALANCE.............???

Sounds like the girl you spoke to got mixed up with her balances. Most banks use 2 balances on an account the current balance and the balance including pending payments/credits/debits.
E.G on online banking today our main balance includes the £200 cheque we recently paid in, but the cleared balance or what we can actually draw against is £200 less.
I prefer online banking so I can see myself everything that has gone in or out the account.

Mind you as you told her you had drawn the cash out you would have thought she would have checked the balance included that transaction.
