Trying to find a reliable, good value email server provider

We are a small company (just three of us) who rely heavily on email but have been having a lot of trouble with the company who currently host our addresses (Telivo) and we're frequently not getting emails delivered to us for several days (if at all) or just generally disappearing!
Our contract is due for renewal at the start of Feb and we're looking for another company to do a better job for us where:
a) we obviously keep the same email addresses (we'd be looking for 5 accounts maximum)
b) it wouldn't cost the earth!
At the moment we're paying £15 a year (yes, a year!) and the others we've looked at are looking for around £50-60 per month but we've got no idea what the average is.
Could anyone recommend some cheap and reliable server providers?
I've heard wonderful things about the advice on this site so come on people, do your stuff!!! (pretty please!)

Are you using your own domain name?
Try talking to www.bigwetfish.co.uk.
They're about 20 quid a year for hosting and that includes send/receiving (smtp/pop) email under your own domain name.
The disadvantage I find with them is the email may take up to half an hour to come through.
I use another hosting company in the US for companies which demand immediate emails - within a couple of minutes. www.your-site.com
The main consideration is the domain name and who controls it.
And you'll need someone to reset the email accounts if you move provider.0 -
I use http://www.oneandone.co.uk very fast delivery of email spam filter seems good as well. Mail only is 69p! a month probably plus VAT and they there will domain reg fees as well.0

Just a thought, but wouldn't google apps be a good move? Free, with very good admin.Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.0

Or GMX (see https://www.gmx.com). Their web interface doesn't work with Firefox, but it's fine with IE (and I presume you'd be using an email client anyway).
The domain name I have is less than £3/year with 1and1.co.uk - had no problems with them either.0 -
I would get a domain for a few quid and use Google Apps with it - you get the GMail interface but with your own domain. If you prefer you can use an email application on the computers instead.0

And with google apps you get essentially a MS Exchange server like system if you use the web client, which is by far the best client on the web, you get shared contacts, calendars, docs etc...Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.0

I use betterwebspace.com at £12 a year for hosting. The email facilities are very comprehensive with forwarding, autoresponders, unlimited addresses etc.0
