Where can we stay in Majorca with 3 kids?

We are pulling our hair out trying to find a holiday for our family and wondered if anyone could help.

We have 3 children aged 5 , 4 and 17 months and are looking to go to Majorca for a week in June. We have been to various travel agents but have drawn a blank.

All we are looking for is a nice place to stay that we can be half board (a week of no cooking hooray) and that my OH and I can be in the same room as the only options seems to be 2 rooms. We dont really need kids clubs as we go away to spend time as a family, we want to be near the beach and not to far from the airport.

Any ideas????

Can't recommend hotels as I mainly stay in cheap accommodation but areas not far from the airport to consider are palma nova, might not be too bad in June, or Portals Nous. Stay clear of Magaluf as its a hovel! Palma city itself is lovely, but no beach.

Sa Coma has a few Protur hotels, their rooms have a seperate bedroom with double bed and then two sofa beds space for a cot in the main room. As they offer SC the rooms are bigger. You can also choose Half Board or All Inclusive options at the majority of their hotels. We stayed last year at one booking direct and had a great time, easy walk to the beach and the resort itself is nice and quiet for kids but still enough shops/bars around to keep you occupied. Also has a lot of public playgrounds (as well as the hotel based ones)in the area which I hadn't seen in many places before

The Vista Badia/Safari complex hotels are good, you can use the facilities and kids waterpark/playground for free regardles sof which one you stay in.

Palma nova - Not far from Airport, has a beautiful beach, walking distance into Magaluf so your a close but not too close as Magaluf is full of teens and young adults. It really is nice. 40 odd of us went 2 years with ages ranging from 6 months to 57! Was a really good holiday.

Dont know of any half board hotels as we always go all-inclusive (for obvious reasons :D)

  • hi i went to Alcudia with 3 kids who were all around the ages of your childern. I stayed at the "soleceto apartments which accommodated about 100 people but this was self catereing, however they share their facilities with the much bigger hotel next door which offer half board and that is called the mariners club. Alcudia is a lovely place and the beach is about a 10 minute walk away. You can book this through thomsons.
  • hotel hawaii in torrennova right on the beach and if your kids go fishing like me and mine you can fish from the pool (bar)patio area while the mrs tops up her tan and as said previous palma nova and magaluf in walking distance good choice of restaurants /bars all within walking distance
if you think peoples advice is helpfull please take the time to clicking the thank you button it gives great satisfaction
  • Hi

Me my OH & my 3 kids (teenagers) had a week in magaluf last september and loved it. Palma Nova was nice too. We've booked self catering for alcudia, I couldn't afford half board for 5 of us as it meant having 3 rooms, 1 for us, 1 for boys 1 for daughter, the supplements knocked it right up!

Hope you managed to find something and I blooming hope the euro bucks up a bit!

  • Palma *does* have a beach - it's called Cala Major and it's to the east, towards Magaluf. It's not MASSIVE but big enough, and the water is lovely to swim in. Lots of hotels to stay in nearby as well - we used the Big Blue, which has a pool and catches the sun until well into late afternoon. There's also a beach to the west of Palma but it's on the flightpath to the airport, and a bit more 18-30ish.

I'm amazed the travel agents can't help you. I think if you find a good one you'll certainly find what you're looking for.
Look for one where the average age of the staff is a bit higher -as you'll find the older staff are likely to have trained when travel agents were not so restricted in what they could sell and more independent so will generally be better at locating the right holiday for you. I've found Co-op travel to be good for this -both in the high street and their @home agents.
I trained as a travel agent in the late 70s and it's startling how much less knowledgable travel agents are today in today's "holiday shops" (and it's why I now book everything over the net-I don't want my holiday booked by someone who knows less about my holiday than I do). I went back into the industry a couple of years ago and soon left when I was told that I needed to book the company's products even when it wasn't the right holiday for the customer -one of the reasons I reccomend Co-op travel-they aren 't own ed by a holiday company so don't have that same ethos.
