I did a search in the box at the top of the home page for the trashcan and it said I had 32 items in it and it was under the files system but I can't actually find it to empty it.
Can someone please tell me in laymans terms how to find it please as I am still trying to find my way around Linux.

I dont use linux - but this might help? taken off "howtogeek" website..HowToGeek_Website wrote:
Just type gconf-editor into the Alt+F2 run dialog to open the Gnome Configuration Editor.
Now browse down to the following key:apps \ nautilus \ desktop
On the right hand side, you'll see an entry called trash_icon_visible. Just check the box. You can also change the trash_icon_name if you'd like.
And there's the icon.
Is that what you need?0 -
You can access it from the file browser and terminal also.
File Browser: Click 'View' and tick the 'Show Hidden Files' (Ctrl+H) box. Your trash can is the .Trash folder.
Terminal: 'cd ~/.Trash' will take you to the trashcan.0 -
