Les Arcs skiing - any tips

Hi
we are off to Les Arcs 1950 mid Feb.
Has anyone got any top tips for me?
We are driving (to save money) and have rented apartments in arc 1950 (Auberge Jerome)
Does anyone know about parking, if it is cheaper to buy lift passes in advance, where to stay on route (perhaps a couple of hours from Les Arcs)
or anything else which will help conserve the Euros!

thanks

Heard some good stuff about http://www.snowrental.net/ they allow to reserve your ski stuff before you go and can work out cheaper..but I have never used them myself as they don't cover the resort I go to in Austria

Staying on route:- http://www.campanile.com/en/default.aspx may fit the bill but for money saving you have to just drive!

Just get a Les Arcs Ski pass dont bother with the Paradiski that covers La Plange as well unless you are good skiers and will cover the ground. this saves 40 euros on a adult 6 day pass.

    A family pass is 700 euros (2+2) saving a paultry 11 euros!

Note: I have not been to there
  • Thanks for that
Does anyone know if it is cheaper to buy the family lift pass on line in advance or is it the same price in Les Arcs?
    thanks

is a great forum for skiing related questions.
I'd second avoiding all big French resorts in February, especially 15-28this year when 2/3 of French schools are on holiday, all Belgian and Dutch schools, UK schools.
  • Thanks Bernadette
    snowheads is great
  • We went to Arc 1950 two years ago - it was fab. My biggest tip would be to stock up on groceries as much as you can before you get to the resort - there is a Spar there but it is pricey. Also, if you can cope without lunch, make a packed lunch, or come back to the apartment for lunch it will save you a lot.

We used snowrental for our kit and it was fine. Can't advise on lift passes since we booked ours through our tour operator (First Choice) - but unless you are all very keen and energetic skiers I doubt you'd get full use out of the Paradiski pass - it is a long way to go across to La Plagne and back in one day, so I doubt you'd do it more than once (we didn't).

    Have fun!
