Does anyone know the apropriate thing to write in the box for car insurance when it asks you your job, if you are a carer to someone. (In this case my mum). I was going to try and do that look around for quotes thing, and usually I put unemployed, but I do get paid the carers allowance for looking after my mum and I wondered if it might have made a difference. So I don't know if I am sort of classed as employed or not. Care assistant, both unprofessional and professional seems to come up, then they want to know if its private or NHS.
Any ideas? Thanks.

im guessing it should be unproffessional and private you would choose0

I would put care assistant and then unprosessional or domestic service (Insurers would not have a problem if you put professional).
Insurers apply loads for un employed people so you should find that now you put yourself as having employment your premius will be less.
If you want to be 100% certain simply ring the Insurer (Make sure you take a not of the persons name)
P.S I'm a broker, I know this is how Insurers enter home carers.0 -
Please can you help me. I searched and found cheap van insurance, paid by card and received letter of receipt dated 14th January but when I try to tax on line which I have done many times for other vehicles and other insurers, I am refused because there is no insurance. Direct choice tell me that Premier Insurance Co Ltd is not a con and on my third phone call called back to say I could now be sure of getting insurance clearance. But again, 24 hours later I am told there is no insurance. Has anyone else had dealings with this company and do they exist? I am wondering if I should have stayed with my previous well known insurers and not bothered to compare and get a cheaper quote. When I ws insured with Norwich Union or others of their ilk I could tax 24 hours later, not find difficulty more than 2 weeks later. Any suggestions please? And beware of these companies if you are looking around.0

scroogess, you would have been better starting your own thread! You say you received letter of receipt - did you receive your insurance documents?
I've had a quick scan on google, can't really find much on Premier Insurance Co Ltd. Unsuer if it is worth contacting your credit card company and trying to claim your money back as you "didn't receive the goods" i.e., you've paid for a service and not received it.My suggestion and/or advice is my own and it is up to you if you follow it, please check the advice given before acting on it.0 -
If it does not allow you to tax it their could be the following reasons a) The Insurers have entered the worng reg number on the Motor Insurance Database (This is what the police and dvla use to verify if the vehicle is covered) b) They have forgotten to enter your details (This is very unlikely) c) Your policy has been cancelled for some reason.
If you click on this link it takes you to the Motor Insurance Database and it very helpfully allows you to enter your reg number and if it is insured it will show the make and model that are declared to them. (It will not show who you are insured with or whose covered to drive etc for data protection reasons) and you can only use it to check your own car details again for data protection reasons. I would recommend that every one checks their details on this site a couple of times a year as if your details are entered incorrectly it will not show when the police pull you over and they are likely to impound your car (At your expense)

I hope this helps
P.S If your details do not show you really need to ring your Insurers and get them to correct any mistakes0
