Reclaiming £ after cooling off period. Advice please
Options
My husband stupidly took out a consolidation agreement with churchwood over debts of just £3k. They told him that at first his credit rating would be poor but that after a few regular payments it would be ok and he would be fine getting amortgage. So off we went to mortgage advisor only to be told he's never get a mortgage for making agreements with creditors.
He took out the agreement just before Xmas and they took about £500 off him in fees. Nothing paid to creditors. Husband contacted his 3 creditors and told them he'd repay the debts himself and told them not to accept the deals from Churchwood.
Contacted churchwood to cancel on basis of misselling him info, which is quite right. It is downright illegal and fasle info that he trusted from them.
They are responding to cancellation within 28 days but have said that he will not get money back as cancelling outwith cooling off period. But they missold him the info!
Going to get fiancial ombudsman and solicitor involved. Do you have any advice? Thanks.
