What can a self employed person claim if they are signed off work on the sick and have paid Class 2 NI?
I was looking at ESA but I don't understand the rules. My husband works full time and we have three children.

If you are self employed you are not entitled to ssp, but you can claim for ESA.
There are two types of ESA, contribution (based on your ni contributions) or income based (means tested depending on savings and household income).

Thanks - I wasn't sure if Class 2 counted towards it, but it looks like it does.
£60 a week isn't much, but it's better than nothing if the doctor insists on signing me off. Here I go again on my own....0
