Hi i applied for a barclaycard initial 2 weeks ago online and was told that a letter would be sent out within 7-10 days. I them recieved a letter about 5 days later saying,
(Thank you for applying for a barclaycard.
Unfortunately, your application has been unsuccessful on this occasion. At present, you do not meet the necessary criteria for a Barclaycard account, but it may be worthwhile reapplying in the future.
If you have any questions, please write to us at: Dept BCR, Barclaycard, 1234 Pavilion Drive, Northampton, NN4 7SG.)
I have also had a barclays cash card account for nearly 2 years and have always kept it in good working order and have all 0's on my credit file. I went into my local branch just before i applied for my Barclaycard to update my address details, and to order a connect card. Then last week when my connect card & pin turned up my address and postcode were not correct. I have now had them changed to my correct address.
My question is could i have been refused because my address didn't match my barclays bank account?
(Thank you for applying for a barclaycard.

Different companies have different criteria by which to offer a card. To give an example: Argos Store Card. That is a notoriously known card to obtain because of the checks undertaken. Some companies allow for certain things, others are more strict. Remember, as ironic as this may sound - given most chuck cards at you, usually towards vulnerable people then charge a racketeering amount of interest; what sense is there in that? (sighs) - they are 'responsible' lenders and if they see you as a risk, then you will not get credit.
And I am afraid you will frankly get nowhere if you ask them to explain either. You will just get the standard, scripted reply. Unless you went higher, into the management structure ... no, bad idea. Most in management don't even know what goes on, they just pick up an obscene pay packet for playing golf and spending one hour a day at work annually. Sorry, I cannot be any more help.Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return. Offered freely, is gleaned from a lifetime of experiences, knowledge gaining. Passed on to benefit others. I may be direct, ask you questions but those are to help you. Up to you if you choose to take it. I won't judge you either way.
