Ridiculous account charges! Please help me

Hi guys,
I wonder if any of you have experienced the same problem as me and if so what action have you taken to resolve this?
I've been charged for money moving from my current account to my savings account when BOTH accounts are with the same bank! I was under the impression that my monthly direct debit had been cancelled from my current account to my savings account as I could not see the entry on my internet banking direct debits. It turns out it wasn't (even though I had asked for a cancellation the previous month because I had been charged another £25). Despite having no funds in my current account for the savings to transfer, the bank moved the money and I was charged £25 for the pleasure, twice!
Basically I'm being charged for the money going nowhere.
I've complained to customer services but they throw the line 'You had insufficient funds etc etc' surely this is very wrong.
You're help is very much appreciated.

Even if it is from one account to the other then an item is still being paid which you don't have funds available for. However on your other point about cancelling the S/o the previous month you could probably speak to the bank and see why it wasn't cancelled and tell them that the payment shouldn't have been made in the first place, you may be able to get a refund if you can prove it was a bank error (not cancelling payment)0
