thanks guys again,
the problem is I live in a new developed area and the postcode is not getting recognised in their system and the error message pops up saying either call the help line no or visit your nearest branch.0 -
I will try to sneak in to the local bank before work and will let you guys know how I got on- come back later in the day
thanks for all the advices0 -
just an update,
went to the local branch, greeted by a nice lady, introduced as business manager or something in that line, told me that I need to make an appointment for opening the account - so asked for an appointment and got one for later on the day.
I had a print out of the 'switch to Abbey Current Account' and gave it to her said that's what I want and the only reason I'm here is coz, my postcode is not recognised in ur online system and was directed to contact the nearest branch.
She said it's available and with some trouble in getting her computer to understand that it's a very new address and finally opened an account with an overdraft facility and got me to sign the switch authorisation letter - so far so good.
confirmed that the £100 will be paid after 6 months if I keep the current account credited with atleast £1000 a month for alteast 3 of those 6 months.
then tried to apply for the 0% CC, and got declined straight away. She said she would be able to over ride the system and get it approved as a new Current Account Holder with Overdraft facility, I'm entitled for a CC and they HAVE to authorise and issue me a CC - one of their policies- I dont have any complain about it. she said she will call me t'row to let me know of the result.
Sorry for the elaborate explanations. Just want to let you guys know that this offer is still available if you approach local branches.0
